The agriturismo Locanda del Fiume a
Machina is a wonderfully restored olive mill sitting at the edge of the medieval seasidehill town of Borgo di Pisciotta,
one of the protected towns of the Cilento National Park. A Machina is the
ancient Cilento name for mill. Agriturismos in Italy
are inns which grow their own produce for the meals they serve.
Often they sell the produce to their guests or the public.
It is a beautiful, indeed idyllic,
spot for both ceremonies and receptions - the main patio has
stunning views of the historical Pisciotta and the blue, blue sea
below. It is ideal for those looking for their wedding
to be steeped in medieval Italian history, Italian village life,
authentic local cuisine and wines, and a wonderful coast with
golden beaches. The Locanda is renown for its own
virgin olive oil.
Some four miles away is the famous
resort town of Palinuro.
