We got married in Maratea on 1st September with Slow Dreams. Having been to visit Villa delle Meraviglie a year before we knew it was lovely but were obviously a bit apprehensive that our 50 guests would also fall in love with it. When we arrived we were not disappointed. In fact, the place seemed even better than we remembered. Our friends and family just kept telling us how amazing the location was. The pool was so tranquil, the setting divine and the service was relaxed, friendly, professional and classy. The night porter was a favorite of ours and the two owners surely know what they are doing because everything seems to be taken care of in the background. The rooms were spotless and had everything we needed inside. It was the perfect location to gear up for our wedding. The only slight mention would be to the wasps that hang around the tables at breakfast and lunchtime. The hotel does put out deterrents but like much of Italy at that time of year the wasps are everywhere. Take something extra to deter them from your table, I think there is a liquid you can buy that you can dab on a tissue and leave on your table because they really are a nuisance. Other than that, absolutely fell in the love with it all and am so grateful that the hotel lived up to our expectations in every way!

“loved it all: Pisacane, Sapri and Slow Dreams”
We stayed at Hotel Pisacane for a week in May 2015
. The hotel was perfect. Domenico and his staff were very accommodating. Domenico spoke English which helped with the visit. At first the hotel seemed a little plan but every day we discovered details that made this hotel special. The rooms were large with doors that opened to a small balcony and view of the promenade and Bay of Sapri. We loved it. The location is convenient to restaurants and the train station. Domenico’s attention to detail showed in the hotel’s fixtures and furnishings, security, cleanliness, friendliness and breakfast. We felt as though we were staying with friends. We did not want to leave. If you are lucky enough to visit Sapri, stay at Hotel Pisacane.
We found the Hotel Pisacane through our wedding planners Slow Dreams. The wedding was perfect. We were very blessed to have found Slow Dreams. They provided direction to this beautiful hotel and the friendly town of Sapri. Thank you Slow Dreams.

“An amazing holiday”
We got married at the San Michele Hotel in May 2009. The San Michele was the perfect wedding venue. Our wedding was organized by Slow Dreams, who were also wonderful.
The hotel was exactly as pictured and described on the Slow Dreams website. Ornella, our liaison there, was amazing – so friendly, warm and approachable, but also efficient and knowledgeable. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and most spoke good English.
It's a typical Italian hotel. The rooms are quite spacious and pleasantly furnished. It's not chic or modern - nor would I want it to be. We had a suite which had a really good amount of room (helpful when you are getting ready for a wedding). The communal areas of the hotel are very nice and spacious. The outside areas of the hotel are absolutely stunning and the grounds are vast. The flowers in May that covered the stairs leading up to the front of the hotel were really lovely.
The private beach was a real surprise. I hate sand, so the lovely pebbles on the beach were a treat for me (some of which may have found their way back to the UK!). The beach was tranquil and the sea beautiful to swim in. We spent much of our time down there. The girls relaxed and the boys swan and climbed up the surrounding rocks.
The food at the hotel was amazing, though quite expensive (partly due to the terrible exchange rate!). The staff were very flexible and were happy to make you food that wasn't actually on the menu. The waiters, especially the head waiter, were extremely friendly and helpful.
We hadn’t got any very specific ideas about what we wanted the wedding to look or be like, but what transpired exceeded any expectations we could possibly have had. The ceremony was sweet and simple, and the flowers were exactly what I had hoped for. We had our buffet reception meal on the terrace by the swimming pool, and the hotel had placed a large table (there were about 20 of us) in the centre, with flowers and candlesticks on the table. This was Ornella’s idea, and not something I had thought about (I assumed a few smaller tables would be provided) but it was an excellent idea. We ate the most amazing Italian buffet (many of the guests have since indicated this was some of the best food they’d ever had) and watched the sunset over what was a glorious day.
I can’t thank Slow Dreams and the San Michele enough for their wonderful service. Bill and Janie of Slow Dreams were wonderfully quick, accurate and patient with the hoards of questions I flooded them with over an eighteen month period. They couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful. The hotel staff bent over backwards to make our experience a wonderfully special one.

“Magical and Enchanting”
Well, what can I say….We had our wedding with Slow Dreams at The Santavenere on 1st September 2009. After a year of careful planning and lots of apprehension we simply had THE best time. The hotel is one of those that ‘you only know about, if you know about!’ Set back in a secluded part of beautiful Maratea, white gates for an entrance and the most peaceful vibe as you travel down into the grounds. We kept the venue a bit of a secret from our guests as we didn’t want to over-do it. In the days leading up the wedding we’d go there for various meetings and each time we’d just be blown away by the pure simplicity and beauty of the location. Yes, the owners is often by the side of the pool on his phone but we never saw him being rude – quite the opposite, he was very calm, friendly and professional. We own a large hotel and we were more than happy with the service and attitude of the ownership, I even felt the huge to give him a big kiss when we left! Special praise must go to the hotel manager, he really seemed to put his heart and soul into our big day. In addition, the restaurant staff and bar staff on the day seemed genuinely happy for us and keen to do everything they could to make the day amazing. They were also very relaxed about what time the party ended and I will never forget our firework show over the sea and dancing under the stars! In a nutshell, we had the best wedding we could have imagined and it wouldn’t have happened if we hadn’t stumbled across The Santavenere. In many ways I want Maratea to stay a hidden gem, we don’t want the charm and natural beauty of the area to ever be ruin – but at the same time, if you’re thinking of having your wedding in Maratea at The Santavenere – fear not. Slow Dream, The Santavenere and the Town Hall will seamlessly ensure you day is as magical as ours and will welcome everyone inside.

Our wedding party stayed at Hotel Pisacane for four nights following a recommendation by Slow Dreams. All of our party were impressed by the large, clean, comfortable rooms, beachside location and helpful, friendly staff. We will recommend Sapri and Hotel Pisacane to friends and family and look forward to our next visit.

10. Re: Slow-Dreams Wedding
Hi
To anyone considering getting wed with Slow Dreams, fear not, they are brilliant! I got married almost 2 years ago with them, in the Maratea area, and I think they were fairly newly set up then. Obviously having never dealt with them, or even seen the area I was wary, and had a few reservations, as you would expect. However, it could not have been better, and they all went far beyond the call of duty to help us. Our wedding was amazing, and the area is beautiful, we even returned last year for a holiday, thats how nice it was! I can understand your worries, but honestly, it will be fine. Just make sure you have your paperwork sorted out, and they will do everything else. You will find it is quite a bit cheaper than what you would spend in your own country (well thats what I found anyway).
Slow-Dreams have my email address, if you ask them for it, you can always email me directly, and I can even share some photos if you like.
I just wish I could do it all over again!!

2. Re: wedding planners in maratea
I have worked with slow dreams over the last few months and have found their service incredible.
They have responded in a quick and thorough fashion to any questions and concerns I have had. They offer a hassle-free service which is a bit more expensive but is worth it when coordinating a wedding overseas. All of their prices are straight forward and all their vendors (at least the ones that I have researched) are the best in their respective areas.
Whenever I had unexpected change of plans, Bill (from slow dreams) always did his absolute best to ensure that I had what I wanted. Even when I wanted to amend the contract after signing, he was willing and able to work with me.
While I don't know much about the other service, I found that the other wedding planners in the area would send out blanket e-mails that didn't really pertain to my questions or concerns and just sort of herded me through the wedding service.

Hi Laura,
K from Dublin here. We just got married via SlowDreams 3 weeks ago in Maratea. They have done an impeccable job for us. Absolutely advise them.
Maratea is not too hilly in terms of walking etc, but it is a taxi drive from the beach.
Locations: can only comment on the ones tha I know!
We stayed in the Locanda but we had no guests,
Pro: close to the village, think it is busy there during the summer, shops and entertainment
Cons: far from beach, Maratea village has only a few restaurants, but Locanda has fantastic food.
Think that the Santavenere is a fabulous location:
pro: close to beach and port where there are a few good restaurants
Con:could be expensive (but Locanda is not much more cheap)
I could also recommend the Palazzo Belmonte in St Maria (80 Km north), where we stayed the next four days, fantastic compaouns, great beach, lovely food. Think they do weddings on the ground there.
Cheers, K
BTW: we have a testimonial on Slowdreams site, you can contact us via them, happy to help you and share our experiences, do not want to be googled, so please contact via them etc!!!

1. Re: Maratea Wedding Photography
Hi
We got married with Slow Dreams in this area almost 1 and a half years ago. They supplied the photographers, Sylivia and Luigi I think they were called, and they were fab. They were so cool (like most Italians) and went out of their way to accomodate our every request, we will treasure our wedding pics!

http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g1150206-d1181330-Reviews-Marulivo_Hotel-Marina_di_Pisciotta_Campania.htl
We cannot reccomend the Marulivo highly enough. We were lucky enough to be married on the hotels terrace in May 2015
(orgaised by Slow Dreams).
The hotel is everything one can hope for in a dream venue and Pisciotta village oozes charm. Along with the beautifully renovated premises that make up the hotel the true selling point is Massimo and Lea the proprieters. It is difficult to explain how brilliantly they run their fantastic hotel, nothing was ever too much trouble and they are great people to be around.
We were lucky enough to have the hotel exclusively for our guests and therefore were able to see all of the bedrooms. Words cannot describe how beautiful the rooms are, the views are absolutely outstanding.
Breakfast is taken on the top terrace looking out across the sea - this is also where we got married. It is a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and pastries. We were often also found here on an evening having a few drinks from the bar which is excellent value. There are also a couple of further smaller terraces with sun loungers which enjoy the great views.
The Marulivo is a hidden gem, slightly off the British tourist map which will exceed anyones expectations of how perfect a break in unspoilt italy can be!

We stayed at Hotel Pisacane for two nights, as we had our wedding in Sapri. The hotel was recommended by our wedding company Slow Dreams (who were amazing).
We were very impressed as to how spotless the rooms were. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly too. We had a street view- was a lovely view of the beach and once the shutters and doors were closed it wasn't too noisy.
Breakfast was very good by Italian standards; lots of fresh pastries and scrambled egg with bacon, which was cooked freshly for you.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're staying in Sapri.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g664469-d1122516-Reviews-Hotel_Residence_L_Approdo-San_Marco_di_Castellabate_Province_of_Salerno_Campania.html .
Where do I start ?We have just had our wedding and honeymoon at the wonderful Hotel L'Approdo 28th may 2013. On arrival to San Marco we were slightly concerned as the town looked quite small and the weather was a bit cloudy. When we arrived in the hotel the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. As it was our honeymoon I think they put us in the family apartment, room 224. The room was immaculately clean, and the facilities were very good. I missed having a kettle and tea/coffee in the room but as we had a kitchen we improvised and made coffee on the stove. The room was cleaned everyday and the housekeeping staff were lovely. We were blown away by the size of the apartment and the size of our balcony. We faced straight out to sea above the hotels private beach. The beach itself was nice and very private. On the shoreline during our stay there was a build up of dry seaweed, this was probably due to us being there slightly out of season, this did not stop us swimming/ snorkelling in the crystal clear sea. We were half board so got our evening meals included. Each night there was a new three course menu. The food was outstanding! I tried so many new dishes and now am attempting to re-create a few at home, without much luck.... The breakfast was lovely also.
Our wedding was organised by a wonderful company called Slow Dreams www.slow-dreams.com. I met with my wedding Planner the day after arrival as my wedding day was the next day. The hotel manager personally took us around the areas I could get married and have my reception. We decided to get married on the patio facing the sea and have our reception in a small covered area surrounded by plants and flowers. It was really beautiful. All the staff were exceptionally helpful, Gennaro and his restaurant staff on the day ( and throughout our stay) were outstanding, they were attentive but still managed to be discreet The food was unbelievable! The kitchen prepared us an egg and nut free cake which I must say was the best cake I have ever had my guests raved about it. The bar staff were also fantastic throughout the stay, they were very friendly and funny and made me and my guests feel very relaxed and welcome. It truly was a unforgettable fairytale day. Many thanks to all the staff for your excellent service.
After the wedding the remainder of the stay we wanted to explore the area. The town itself is quite small with only a few restaurants and shops and the harbour. We found the afternoon siestas difficult at times as some shops and restaurant closed but if you plan your time it didn't become a problem. The restaurants we did eat at we're very good and the staff very friendly. You can take a 20 minute stroll to the larger town of Santa Maria along the coastline. There was a small section of flat rocks to walk over on this walk on the beach but it wasn't a problem. We found sections of the beach towards Santa Maria look quite unkempt. We wondered if this was because our stay was just out of season still so maybe the beach is combed later in the summer. San Marie is lovely the area is very quaint and had many shops, bars, restaurants and coffee bars. The beach there was very nice also. We also visited the mountain top town of Castebellate. It was a very quirky little town where we had a gorgeous lunch with outstanding views across the coastline.
As a honeymoon treat the reception staff helped us to arrange a boat trip with a local excursion company. The owner was called "Nicola" and his company was called "Masaniello tourist" www.masaniellotourist.com. It was absolutely fantastic!! It really made our honeymoon in Italy very special. The weather in the morning was nice but the sea was a bit rough so we could not visit the famous and beautiful coves which was a little disappointing, but as the day went on we didn't even miss it. Our host was very warm and friendly and instantly wanted us to have the day we wanted to have. He let us know there would be a few surprises in store for us ( which I promised never to reveal ) he served us a 5-6 course fresh fish lunch prepared in his own home by his very talented wife. We were told we could have the boat anytime and for however long we required. We got on at about 10.30 and retuned about 6.The food was some of the best I have ever tried. He kept our drinks topped us and was able to give us lots of information about the beautiful Cilento coast and old local stories about mermaids. It really was the relaxed romantic and authentically Italian experience we wanted. Thankyou Nicola. It was fab!
Our overall experience was one we will always cherish. Not only because it was where we were married but the hotel was perfect and the staff really made the experience a relaxed and welcoming. We want to give this hotel top marks and think that anyone who chooses to stay here will have a really wonderful stay. Many thanks again to everyone for making our stay one we won't forget.

We arrived a few days before our wedding, we held our wedding* reception at La Locanda, and then we staying longer than we planned, because we just didn't want to leave. Our guests also all stayed at La Locanda.... and they all want to return. Sonia and her staff bent over backwards to make us welcome - nothing was too much trouble... we had the best time. The food at the wedding was delicious... the service fantastic.. what a fabulous place - just perfect!
We'll be back :)

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g2299977-d3139164-Reviews-Hotel_La_Loggia-Tortora_Province_of_Cosenza_Calabria.html#REVIEWS
I have recently got back from our wedding at Hotel La Loggia. I had 67 guests come over from the UK ranging from one week to three days. I can not fault this hotel and it's staff. They could not do enough for us all. We used slow dreams wedding planners and we could not have organised it all without them.
The setting of the hotel is jaw dropping and although it is in a rural area the hotel owner will sort taxis for you if you do not have a car. There is no cash machine or shop near by but anything we needed the hotel owner was on hand to collect. If we didn't want to we could have not moved the whole week.
We spent a few days and evening eating in the resturant all the food is locally sourced and freshly prepared and even for the fussy English eaters the staff were able to adapt their menu to suit our guests.
I can not recommend this hotel enough and I know our 67 guests would totally agree.

We have just returned from La Loggia where my daughter was married. It was all a truly magical experience.
The Wedding Planner was Slow Dreams and I would personally recommend them to anyone wishing to organise a wedding abroad. Throughout the planning phase they were friendly , professional and efficient. Every aspect of the wedding was thoroughly organised to a very high standard.
Hotel La Loggia was the perfect hotel to choose. The staff were extremely friendly and were determined that our experience there would be the most enjoyable possible. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
We would all definitely choose this hotel again.
A huge thank you to all the staff for helping to make my daughter's wedding so memorable.

We have just returned from our honeymoon after getting married at La Loggia. We had already been out to visit the place so we already knew just how amazing the location and views were. Tortora really is beautiful and rustic with so much charm. The views from every room at La Loggia really are breathtaking. On staying there the days prior to the wedding we realized the hotel's best kept secrets: the food, the staff and the cleanliness.
The food is all organic and absolutely amazing...would highly recommend!
We really can't speak highly enough of all the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they go above and beyond to make sure your stay is fantastic and comfortable. In the run up to the wedding, they attended to every single detail and we had absolutely nothing to worry about. They really do treat you like family and make you feel like you are part of their home.
The whole hotel is absolutely spotless!!!! Not a speck of dust anywhere!!!
The wedding itself was magical....everything was perfect thanks to La a Loggia and our wedding planners, Slow Dreams. It really is the perfect wedding venue, our photographs are all so amazing due to stunning scenery.
Thank you La Loggia for making our wedding so perfect.... We plan to return for our first anniversary!

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at La Lido Lazzarella following a recommendation by Slow Dreams. The ceremony was held on a private terrace overlooking the beach. The sea, harbour and mountains provided a beautiful background for the wedding photos. The reception layout was perfect, the food tasted excellent and was wonderfully presented. It looked so beautiful that it was almost a shame to eat it! All our guest were well looked after by the attentive staff and our wonderful wedding planner Lucia made sure that everything ran smoothly. Highly recommended.

“The most beautiful wedding at a lovely hotel.”
Well where to start? The hotel is quaint. It's a 3 star hotel, yes it needs a bit of work, it feels very lived in. It's not perfect, the paint is chipped, the sofas are a bit tatty, it's feels like you're staying in a flash back to the 90's, some random old guy sleeps on a recliner in the bar area and the decor in certain places is questionably from someone's actual lounge and none of the crockery matches (yes I have it 5* stay with me here) but by god its a brilliant little place.
Everything I have mentioned made me love it. You feel like you're walking in to someone's home. From the warm greeting of all of the staff, including the cleaners to the random people who always seem to be about and you never seem to know if they're staff or customers. It feels like a homage to all things southern italy. Its relaxed to the point of being horizontal. The wifi is sparse but ee and vodafone do very well. The food is typically italian, entree, choice of two 1st courses and two 2nd courses, desert. The experience of real italian food is so worth it. Breakfast is continental.
The coffee is divine and the croissants are better.
HOWEVER, the very BEST thing about this hotel is (well its two things really) the people they really make the place, francesca and fabio who run it, pascquele who runs the restaurant and the bar girl (can't remember her name sorry! ) were all amazing. They have a grasp of English that you don't see often in the south of Italy, they try very hard to communicate effectively and they really do go out of there way to help you with anything and everything you a need. We changed rooms, we messed with the menu, a lot, my husband is such a fussy eater, as is his mother, as are my bridesmaids. They genuinely couldn't do enough.
Then there was the wedding, which leads me to the second best thing (but joint first really ) which is The VIEW, I will post a few of the wedding pictures, unedited that I have from our mobile phone that a guest took. This is why you come to this hotel. Not because it's perfect or new or modern, not because they have a fully comprehensive menu with vegan options, not because they have room service because you'll be disappointed. You come for the view, for the atmosphere, for the culture shock, the experience and the amazing welcoming people.
Our wedding was, for lack of a better or more interesting word, perfect. The weather was perfect, the wedding planner from Slow Dreams, the lay out of the decorations, the pictures, the food, the ease at which they moved everything inside when the wind picked up at 9pm, the manager Fabio stayed up till we went to bed to make sure we were happy, every minute of our day was just spectacular.
So if you want something that is clean and polished and has no feeling, please go elsewhere but if you want a genuine family feel and an authentic italian holiday, please feel free to stay here, we recommend it highly.

http://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowTopic-g194809-i3492-k875306-Slow_dreams_maratea_italy_wedding_planner-Maratea_Basilicata.htmNote from Bill at Slow Dreams - this post is one of only two negative posts we have found on the Internet. The other was from a lady who complained (not on TripAdvisor - see http://www.igougo.com/story-s1226468-Italy-Italy_wedding_-_Slow_Dreams.html) that we refused to work with her - we, on very rare occasions, do refuse to work with potential clients - so we have no problem with her comments.
For the other post, the best thing to do is to read the complete post (link above) with responses and judge yourselves. However, here is my input.
Let me deal directly with the veracity of the post in three areas:
The couple writes that I (Bill) told them that the trip to Hotel San Michele would take 90 minutes when in reality it takes 4 hours. Here is my question - who in their right mind would tell someone that a trip is 90 minutes and be waiting for them to arrive after a 4 hour trip? My mother always said I was not such a bright bulb - however, no one could be quite that dull and stupid.
The couple also described the Grand Hotel San Michele as "old peoples' home" - have a look at wwww.slow-dreams.com/san-michele.htm ; read the response to the post of people who actually got married there, and you be the judge. The couple also stated that I was the only employee of the company - any reading about Slow Dreams would clearly indicate their statement is patently false. |
