The original structure at Castel Bigozzi dates from the 13th century. Its thick stone walls and expansive grounds overlooking the surrounding countryside are evidence of its history as a fortified aristocratic residence. It has been renovated into a hotel residence. This hotel is one of the oldest buildings in the area. In the Middle Ages this castle belonged to the ancestors of noble Montanini family.
The Relais offers 18 rooms (suites & classic rooms) furnished with antique furniture, but comfortable modern bathrooms. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, safe, bath or shower.
In the suggestive olive grove that surrounds the castle, guests can also enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. Abbadia Isola was founded in 1001 as a beneditine monstary. The abbey is considered part of the town-hall; as such, legal wedding ceremonies are held there.
