Two Hour Approval Process for For US Citizens

By Slow Dreams - Weddings in Italy

In an effort to increase tourism from the US, two local jurisdictions have introduced an exceedingly simple approval process.  This process is unique to this region and is limited to US citizens.

This process eliminates the need for any document translations,  document authentications in the US , and visits to your nearest  Italian consulate in the US (or in the country of your residence, if living abroad).

What is The "No-hassle" Approval Process?

  • Upon signing a contract with Slow Dreams, we will obtain approval from the local town hall.

  • both U.S. citizens must make an appointment online with the American Consulate in Naples for 8 a.m.on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday (except Holidays).  Before doing so, please check with us so we can advise what date this should be done

    • Go to: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/

    • Scroll down to NAPLES and click where it tells you to set up an appointment..

    • Then click on where it says “MAKE AN APPOINTMENT”. Then the page comes up :

    • ACS Appointment System – Choose Service(s). Now click on “Request Notarial and other services not listed above”.

    • Then, there is another box that you should click (and read) – I have read the instructions on the Embassy or Consulate website for passport services I require. Click on Submit and then a calendar will come up and each of you need to make an appointment for the day that you need to be at the consulate and for the same time (pick the earliest time that is available – 8 a.m. is preferred) + you need to fill in all the pertinent information that they require. Continue to follow the instructions.

    • Make sure you keep a print out of your appointment.

  • You will come to Naples bringing your passports and the originals of any divorce papers (un-translated).

  • A Slow Dreams agent/guide will meet you in Naples -  e.g., at your hotel .

  • The agent/guide will bring you to the American Consulate in Naples.

  • You will swear an oath in front of the consulate official who will issue you with a Nulla Osta (a certificate of no impediment to marriage) each.

  • The agent  will then take you  to the nearby Italian government documentation authentication office (Prefettura) to get the consulate's signature authenticated.

  • The Slow Dreams agent will then take you to the train to continue your trip to the venue further south.

THE TOTAL PROCESS TAKES TWO HOURS.

For this service, the American Consulate in Naples is open at 8am on a Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings  -  HOLIDAYS EXCEPTED.  You must be there at 8am at the latest.   The Notarial section is located at Piazza della Repubblica, Room 201, and the telephone number is, from inside Italy, 081-583-8220/8221 and from outside Italy, you must first dial (011) 39. The fee at the Consulate is $50.00 per person (cash only) or equivalent in Euros. This fee is subject to change. This fee is waived for U.S. military personnel serving in the Naples Consular District. The Italian government  authentication office (Prefettura) closes at noon. The cost for stamps is EUR 14.63 each (subject to change) - one stamp for each U.S. citizen.  NOTE:   We recommend you spend the prior night in Naples.

Who Should Consider This Approval?

Those US Citizens  that want:

  • Completely "No-Hassle"  -  no need to get approvals from the Italian consulate in the States.  The approval process takes about two hours.  We will get you around Naples -  so just relax.

  • Last minute weddings/elopements -  The only factor impacting  the amount of notice required is the availability of the mayor  -  check with us.

  • Less cost for approval where there is a divorce  -   the normal approval process (through the Italian consulate in the States) can be expensive for those that require translation of long divorce papers.   This process requires no translation; therefore,  in certain circumstance can be even less expensive as well as less hassle.

  • Less cost for approval where the couple lives far from the nearest Italian Consulate -  Couples that are some distance from the Italian consulate can save save significantly in time, money and hassle.    The cost of going to the consulate and bringing witnesses with you can be significant.

  • American citizens living abroad

Where Can You Get Married?
