Two Hour Approval Process for For US Citizens

Normal Approval Process for US Citizens

In an effort to increase tourism from the US, two local jurisdictions have introduced an exceedingly simple approval process.  This process is unique to this region and is limited to US citizens.

This process eliminates the need for any document translations,  document authentications in the US , and visits to your nearest  Italian consulate in the US (or in the country of your residence, if living abroad).

Highlights of New Optional  "No-Hassle" Approval Process for US Citizens

What is The "No-hassle" Approval Process?

  • Upon signing a contract with Slow Dreams, we will obtain approval from the local town hall.

  • both U.S. citizens must make an appointment online with the American Consulate in Naples for 8 a.m.on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday (except Holidays).  Before doing so, please check with us so we can advise what date this should be done.

  • You will come to Naples bringing your passports and the originals of any divorce papers (un-translated).

  • A Slow Dreams agent  will meet you in Naples -  e.g., at your hotel .

  • The agent will bring you to the US consulate in Naples.

  • You will swear an oath in front of the consulate official who will issue you with a Nulla Osta (a certificate of no impediment to marriage) each.

  • The agent  will then take you  to the nearby Italian government documentation authentication office to get the consulate's signature authenticated.

  • The Slow Dreams agent will then take you to the train to continue your trip to the venue.

THE TOTAL PROCESS TAKES TWO HOURS.

For this service, the US Naples consulate is open at 8am on a Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings  -  HOLIDAYS EXCEPTED.  You must be there at 8am at the latest.   The Italian government  authentication office  closes at noon.     We recommend you spend the prior night in Naples.

Who Should Consider This Approval?

Those couples  that want:

  • Completely "No-Hassle"  -  no need to get approvals from the Italian consulate in the States.  The approval process takes about two hours.  We will get you around Naples -  so just relax.

  • Last minute weddings/elopements -  The only factor impacting  the amount of notice required is the availability of the mayor  -  check with us.

  • Less cost for approval where there is a divorce  -   the normal approval process (through the Italian consulate in the States) can be expensive for those that require translation of long divorce papers.   This process requires no translation; therefore,  in certain circumstance can be even less expensive as well as less hassle.

  • Less cost for approval where the couple lives far from the nearest Italian Consulate -  Couples that are some distance from the Italian consulate can save save significantly in time, money and hassle.    The cost of going to the consulate and bringing witnesses with you can be significant.

  • American citizens living abroad

Where Can You Get Married?

With a Nulla Osta issued by the US consulate in Naples, several local mayors will marry you either at the town hall or outdoors at:

  • Villa Sirio -  an elegant villa hotel right on the sea  -  Mandatory  accommodations (3 night minimum)  - Castellabate

  • L'Approdo - a resort hotel on the sea -  Mandatory  accommodations (3 night minimum) - Castellabate
