Gole Del Calore - a WWF Oasis
Gole del Calore in English means
"the throats of the river Heat". The Calore river has through
the millennia carved a series of deep ravines through the mountains.
These beautiful ravines in the park have become sanctuaries for
fauna (especially the otter) and flora. Not only do
walks through the park uncover the delights of nature, but also
three
splendid ancient Roman stone bridges.
It was this mixture of nature, history and architecture that caused the World
Wildlife Fund (WWF) to grant
such protection
status of "Oasis" to the park. |
