Hotel Description

The Location

Newly opened in August 2007,  Marulivo sits high on the hill town of Pisciotta, overlooking the sea.     The hotel sits clinging to a cliff at the edge of of the medieval historic center (Centro Storico).  It's views are quite wonderful  -  blue sea, coastal hills, and olive and lemon groves.     Pisciotta has some lovely beaches, all with clear blue seas.   The town also hosts a number of bars and restaurants.  It has a harbor where you can rent boats,  go diving and snorkeling.  The wonderful and totally unspoiled coast road connects to a string of quaint seaside villages, and a few resort towns.

Note:  the roads in the historical centre are too narrow for any cars, etc;  so,   the hotel is not suitable for anyone with walking problems.

The Hotel

Marulivo is a recent restoration of a 13th century convent, and retains much of the original architecture, but lovingly shaped into fine boutique hotel.   Our photos do not come close to capturing the essence of Marulivo.    It is composed of 9 double rooms and 2 suites, all wonderfully decorated in a Tuscan motif - see below.  All rooms are fully equipped with heating, air conditioning, TV,  and mini-bars -  and fabulous views  (most with sea-views).

The hotel does not have a restaurant;  however, just around the corner is Slow Dreams' favorite restaurant Osteria del Borgo  -  a wonderful "hole in the wall"  restaurant whose chef Gerardo works closely with local producers to ensure optimum ingredients.   For example, he has the local fishermen clean their anchovies as they are caught,  they then marinade  them in freshly squeezed juice  from local  lemons.  The chef then simply adds a few herbs and spices to them -  quite delightful.  Other dishes which draw us back week after week are sea food stew,   spicy mussel and clams,   and Italy's best spaghetti  carbonaro, and best french fries.

A walk from the hotel on the other side of the hill-town  is the Locanda della Fiume  -  with another 11 rooms.
